Hedy is from Fuyang, Anhui. She contracted polio at the age of 3 and lost the function of her legs.

She rarely exercised, so she began to gain weight, and her physical strength was very poor. She was out of breath after walking a few dozen meters. 

She walked with crutches, and to go to far places, she would drive an electric tricycle.
